Drive Me Crazy

I watched this film over the weekend, and man do I love it. What is there not to love? A young (and very good looking) Adrian Grenier plays the bad boy next door, and Melissa Joan Hart (you might know her as Sabrina the teenage witch) plays the popular girl. Watch it if you're into classic cheesy 90s films, like 10 things I hate about you.

Pierrot Le Fou

If you're like me and missing the summer already, here is some summer inspiration in stills from the 1965 french new wave film Perrot Le Fou. I really enjoy watching this film, because aesthetically it is beautiful. It's about a couple who live a very unorthodox life, always on the run. I  absolutely love the primary colours used throughout and of course the beautiful setting of Southern France. Most of all, I'm obsessed with Anna Karenina, who plays Marriane. She is so unbelievably beautiful, and I'm crazy jealous of her care-free french style she's got going on.

A Bout De Souffle

Today, style inspiration comes from the beautiful Jean Seberg in A Bout De Souffle (Breathless)

Breathless is a french new wave film starring Jean Seberg as a naive american girl living in Paris. I instantly fell in love with her boyish hair, slicks of eyeliner and stripy tops. There wasn't actually an official costume designer for the movie, instead the director Godard encouraged actors to wear their own clothing and make choices they thought appropriate for each character. 

Jean Seberg reminds me a lot of Audrey Hepburn, they both have that authentic classic style that is both chic and timeless.

La Bonheur

La Bonheur is a film made in 1965 directed by Agnes Varda. It falls into the category of french new wave and I've focused on it purely because the plot is so unusual, and I really enjoyed Varda's masterful use of bright, oversaturated color (including fades to vivid primary colors instead of black in scene transitions)

La Bonheur translates to 'Happiness', the protaganist Francois is so happy, because he has a wife (Therese) who cares only for him and their two lovely kids. He has a rewarding job as a carpenter, and a good relationship with his brother. One day he meets lovely postal worker Emilie and starts an affair with her, and now he’s even happier. Francois has so much joy that he can’t contain it all, so he tells his wife how happy he is to have two lovely women in his life, and an hour later she goes off and drowns herself. A few months pass before Emilie moves smoothly into the role of wife/mother, and Francois’ happiness continues as before.

 

New blog!

Well, this is the first time i've set up my own blog, I thought as I'm turning 20 its time for me to use this website to explore some creative ideas! I love everything that is fashion, but I'm also very into my music and films. So I hope to share with everyone my interests and open up my life and my fashion to you all!

 The blog name Et Dieu...Créa La Femme is a title from one of my favourite French New Wave films. It debuts the beautiful Bridgette Bardot as Juliette, a sexually captivating young woman who's free spirit and hedonistic ways make her all the more a temptress. For most of the film Bardot is either lounging outside naked, moping in bed, bicycling round in cute outfits or being admired by men.

 She has that kind of sex appeal, that makes men helpless, and me, insanely jealous...My girl crush on Bardot is not the only reason this film stands out to me, the fashion, the setting and the sexual liberating message the film throws out makes me thrilled to be a woman!...Or maybe I just want to be Bridgette Bardot.
